Ferrari has received a message from intruders who claim to have infiltrated the company's IT systems and are now demanding a ransom. The manufacturer warns customers of the data leak, including names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

"We regret to inform you of a cyberattack on Ferrari in which attackers were able to gain access to a limited number of systems in our IT environment," reads the letters sent to Ferrari customers.

We already know that customers' names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers have fallen into the hands of third parties, but the investigation is not yet complete and it is unclear whether payment details, bank account numbers or other sensitive payment information were compromised. It is stressed that Ferrari has already taken all necessary measures to protect the compromised systems, and the attack had no impact on the company's operations.

"According to our policy, Ferrari will not pay a ransom because paying such demands finances criminal activity and allows attackers to continue their attacks. Instead, we felt that the best course of action would be to keep our customers informed, so we are notifying customers of the potential threat of a data breach and the nature of the incident," Ferrari officials said.

It is worth noting that back in October 2022, hack group RansomEXX claimed to have successfully hacked the automaker and claimed to have stolen 7GB of data from Ferrari. At the time, the hackers said they stole numerous documents from the company, including contracts, invoices, internal information, repair guides and more.
Ferrari officials told the media last fall that the company was not investigating any ransomware attacks or cybersecurity incidents, and no disruptions to business or operations had been seen.
